Operation Squeegee Wrap-up!

Operation Squeegee has ended, and with a few last minute donations and shoppers we made it just over one million twenty thousand Lindens, that's approximately $4,000 USD!

It was an amazing experience - not only did we raise a lot of money for the National Wildlife Federation's Oilspill Recovery Fund, but there were a lot of new friendships and connections started. Thanks to all of you who participated with your donations of time, money, and creativity!

Operation Squeegee ends tomorrow!

Now is the time to come and pick up those great creations made by 50 different vendors! Come by during the final day of Operation Squeegee before they are gone. All donations go towards the National Wildlife Federation's Oil Spill Recovery Fund.

Teleport to the Home Sim

What can you find there? All sorts of things! Lot's of exclusive fashion creations for men and women of course, plus boats, vehicles, furniture, decorations, avatars, toys, poses, gadgets and more!

We've made it to $L 933,000, over three thousand USD... but we want to reach one million lindens by the end of the 15th! If you would just like to contribute, you can help by donating in any of the blue buckets on the main sim, or found around various places in SL.

More information about Operation Squeegee is available here, including final events, real-world links, and lot's of documentation.

ORGANICA ORGANICA ORGANICA

My mind is still blown. Operation Squeegee supporters and event hosts have come together in a BIG way, and in just under 10 days we've managed to raise $3,000.00 USD. Yeah, well over 800,000K Lindens -- and we still have a few more days to go.

There's a particular group of people that deserve your support and praise, a group of people who are remarkable in many ways; the Happy Clams @ Organica. These folks are not only dedicated to spinning some of the most mind blowing psytrance and goa in the universe and hosting many a charitable party or festival, they're also dedicated to the values of freedom, curiosity, and sustainability. More than that;

OrGaNiCa is a Multicultural Meeting Ecological and mirrored in the best festivals of Alternative Art and Culture of the Planet. The meeting brings together great lovers and artists involved in this movement: painters, jugglers, designers, musicians, mystics, hippies, visionaries or just appreciate diversity, heavily inspired by pacifism and closer contact with nature. -- DJ Grung Ergaron

I (Marian) am not a very good blogger -- and I've struggled to keep all my ducks in a row throughout the fundraiser, so hopefully I am able to do Organica and all the other wonderful venues, performers, and hosts justice by extending my deepest gratitude for all of their enthusiasm, support, and patience. Most of all, thank you happy clammers, crazy dancers, book nerds, trivia junkies, music snobs, party people, shopaholics, builders, scripters, friends and family. I love you all. Thank you all for your kindness, I intend to pay it forward.

So with that, I am honored to announce that ORGANICA managed to, over the course of 12 hours, raise $1,100 USD for Operation Squeegee. I stopped by a day later and found the total had risen to $1,230 USD. That's just about 356,000 lindens, and about 1/3 of Operation Squeegee's donations to date. It's more than we manage to raise in eight days of work. Severalamazing DJs made art through the airwaves, if you see them, hug them, tip them, write them love notecards -- anything to show them your appreciation. Those DJs are Med Oh, Thomtrance Otoole (Organica's founder - did a TON of matching of donations, give him extra love and cookies), Mustapha Rau, Seebs Dover,Danny Colllazo, Qee Nishi, and Ahimsa Balutmake (Who also donated a crap ton of money) sure you take some time to visit ORGANICA and trance out (don't be surprised if you see me there), and maybe even become a part of their amazing tribe.

Thank you again to all the Happy Clams who donated, matched, encouraged and spent time with Operation Squeegee this weekend, and all the Squeegees who hopped out to play at Organica.

WOOHOO Dogglounge's Spill the DJ event raised 40,000L!

Dogglounge was one of the first electronic clubs dedicated to Deep House Music in Second Life and Real Life. Founded by Brian Nicholas in 2006, it became a venue not only for his inworld talents but his Internet station Dogglounge.com. The inworld club has now been placed in the loving hands of Ms. Sidda Leigh who contiinues to grow and cultivate the Dogg's gourp of dedicated follower. Last night Sidda hosted a wonderful event for Operation Squeegee featuring 6 hours of House Music for our worthy cause. When all was said and done, the event raised right at about 40,000L! Many, many thanks to Sidda and to all the Doggloungers - I love you Ms. Leigh! Go SQUEEGEE!!!

Creators, DJs, Events, Bloggers, and Volunteers

Seeking contributors and volunteers to participate in an SL exclusive fundraising effort to support recovery efforts from the ongoing gulf oil-spill.

The event will run from July 1st - 15th, and will have lots of events and publicity associated with it, as well as a vendor merchandise area with donated items for sale!

Funds raised through Operation Squeegee will go to The National Wildlife Federation. Funds that are donated to the federation will support the following efforts:
  • Development and deployment of the National Wildlife Federation's Gulf Coast Surveillance Teams, a volunteer network that is being organized to monitor the coast for wildlife impacted by the oil spill. Beyond the initial surveillance needed, this effort will then shift to long term volunteer restoration programs.
  • Restoration of vulnerable nesting and breeding grounds, as well as other delicate ecosystems found throughout the Gulf Coast for water birds, sea turtles and other animals.
  • Public education about the oil spill and its impacts on wildlife, including our online efforts at www.nwf.org/oilspill and informing the press and others about the impacts the oil spill is having on coastal communities and wildlife.
  • Policy work at the national and state level to support restoration of habitat in the Gulf Coast and better protection of our waters and coastlines.
You can read more about their efforts on thier website!

This link will take you directly to their donation page.
